ร้านนายเหมือง

ร้านนายเหมือง seems to be a 'Hangout' for people who are younger than me.

I suppose the Spiderman at the front crouching in front of the old car should have given it away.

Then the girls serving me with the short shorts on.

Then the football screen..

Then the girls with the bunny rabbit head band ears pouring shots....

The food was okay but it is more of a drinks and nibbles place than a restaurant but the Tom Yam soup was good and the Sushi rolls were better than expected. But there was supposed to be WiFi but my phone could not find it?

Looking at Foursquare it is registered as a 'Whisky Bar'.

no more information to add...

Z-tekka Cafe

Z-tekka Cafe is an interesting place to visit because it is there for the local Thai people to visit.

The coffee is very strong and it was very sweet!

The walls are adorned with photographs of Phuket Old Town and there is the opportunity to be some local foods. I did feel a little uncomfortable being the only Westerner in there but it was great for people watching.

Worth another visit - fascinating history.

Sweets 'n Treats Coffee

Sweets 'n Treats Coffee seems to be a relatively new coffee shop - seems to have been opened approximately a year. It looks like it is a family business, it is small, approximately 4 tables at the front and 4 inside.

The feeling is quite serene and I first visited here after I had finished my walk

The air conditioning was a welcome to a hot person - the iced coffee was a wonder it hit the right spot!

So much so that I stayed a little longer - I wondered about the cakes (because their Iced Coffee was not sweet) but thought that I should not.

The decoration was (to me) very English the metal Kit Kat box was what first caught my eye.

Then the Yorkshire breakfast tea.

Then the Twinnings.

Fantastic location and will be back again.

I do wish that they had been proper doilies though...

Thai Fried Bananas (Kluay Khaek, Kluay Tod กล้วยแขก, กล้วยทอด)

Deep fried banana is a must that you must eat when you visit Thailand. Okay it might not not be the healthiest dish but it does taste great! There has been little variation in the times that I have had it - although it does taste good with ice-cream or a heavy serving of creamed sugar.

All of the times that I have seen it made the slices of banana are first dipped into a batter, sometimes containing desiccated coconut.

Then the bananas are put into a bowl of bubbling oils.

The cooking bananas are continually turned and moved about - to ensure they do not stick. Sometimes the cooking bananas are then removed and then sesame seeds are scattered over them, dipped back in the oil and then set aside. So where to get them in Phuket? The best places are the Traditional Market areas...

Phuket Rendez-Vous

Phuket Rendez-Vous is approximately a year and a half old now, our visit visit was in the soft-opening so we decided to return to look again.

The staff were clearly a lot more comfortable with the service and there was more smiling - we were a lot more comfortable.

Pina Colada's were served and then we chose the Western Food and it was a lovely atmosphere but the food was a little bland, maybe it was us and we are eating more Local Thai Food?

The Pina Colada was fabulous though....

Tangkae Seafood

Tangkae Seafood is one of a number of seafood restaurants along this strip in Chalong

We chose here because we had walked past but not been here before.

The welcome was swift and the seating was ordinary plastic seating and as we sat down we realised that the tables were still dirty from the previous occupants.

It was swiftly sorted and we sat down with our bottle of wine chilling as we did - fabulous recovery!

Not sure whether there were any other menus in any other languages because we never looked, my lovely wife ordered for us all! (Hint: take a Thai speaker out for dinner it helps enormously).

The Tom Yam Goog arrived and it was a heavy red style and it blew my socks off - delicious but glad there was beer on ice ready.

Then the fish came and the curry sauce (I think) was delicious - Cheers!

Then the prawns in Tamarind!

We could not have asked for more - thank you.

Coffee Brick (ร้านกาแฟและอาหารสุดชิคบนเกาะภูเก็ต)

Coffee Brick is the first drive through coffee shop in Phuket!

We had popped in here just to go to the Shopping Mall (Tesco-Lotus in Chalong) and we ended up here. Coffee Brick is actually a Thai firm and it does embrace Social Media; website, facebook, Google+ and more.

And here's the best description - from Thailand 'Word of Mouth'.

Coffee Brick Phuket is a, chic cafe and restaurant located on the beautiful island of Phuket. Originating from the concept of K. Ice, company owner of Piramid Solutions Co., Ltd being one of Phuket's largest and most successful IT integration companies supporting many of the islands most prestigious 3,4 and 5 start hotels and condominium developments. Khun Ice is known throughout the island of Phuket to have a passion for flavor and atmosphere for coffee shops. He has long aspired to open his own coffee shop and so by using the many businesses that he has already has, he drew inspiration to open his new coffee shop with a very unique style; Coffee Brick, which is located at Tesco Lotus in Phuket.

Coffee Brick is characterized by an atmosphere that was created from a modern loft chic concept. It is comprised from 4 large shipping containers that overlap each other to give a very attention-grabbing and distinctive appearance. The name Coffee Brick became the inspiration for the name based on the idea of the decorative style of the restaurant using the shipping containers. The interior of Coffee Brick reveals the unique structure whilst offering beautiful architectural shapes in the parking area in front of Tesco Lotus. The interior is designed to meet the needs of customers with a variety of coffee and baked goods created for locals and tourists alike from every country. Coffee Brick's exotic atmosphere offers a wide choice of feelings.

The description is extremely accurate and I felt that it was unnecessary to try to write my own.

The Coffee Brick was a small welcoming place with small toys for our daughter to play with.

There was a sumptuous selection of cakes and if you are a chocolate addict then then one above was the one for you.

The coffees were great - the coffee was hot and was smooth without adding sugar (just my type of coffee) - if you are near here or shop in the centre next door I would recommend popping in.

21 Cafe & Bistro

Nespresso is the coffee for some people and 21 Cafe and Bistro in Phuket Old Town is a place to try a coffee. There are so many that I did not know which to choose and by the time or writing this I cannot remember which type of coffee I chose?

Yellow top? Too bitter for me?
But maybe it was supposed to be like that so I am not sure how this post should be written? So I will have to visit a few more times.

The Cafe and Bistro was very quiet at 10am in the morning and this did not seem to be ready for the early starters but this may have changed since then? The Cafe was also a Bistro but I did not try the food - next time?

Phuket Tea Station

Phuket Tea Station is a restaurant selling Thai dishes, selling sweets from Keng-Tin and selling Bubble Tea. So this is why it is called a Tea Station?

The restaurant is well air-conditioned and kept in a very tidy condition. The kitchen is behind the building so there are no incidents of a 'strange aroma' - all very civilsed actually.

This is another place where I come to have my Bubble Tea and my love of the Phuket Traditional Kanom - Tao Sor Pia - a wonderful combination.

The Tao Sor can come in salty or sweet - both are wonderful...

This is all that I have ever eaten in here so I do not think that I can call it a real review - but what I had was great!!!
